Carol attended the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1964. She then began her nursing career in the Hartford Hospital Neurological ICU.
In November 1967, Carol met the love of her life, Roy Carlson at her brother Daniel’s wedding to Jennifer Hoye in England. Following their marriage on March 23, 1968, at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in East Hartford, CT, they resided in Henlow, Bedfordshire, England where Roy was stationed at RAF Chicksands. Roy’s next assignment with the USAF was to Key West, FL, where, after 10 years of service to his country, he was honorably discharged from the USAF and they returned to his home in Des Plaines, IL. During their time there, Carol continued her nursing career with the Four Seasons Nursing Homes.
Transferring to Dallas in 1980, they resided in The Colony, TX. Carol received a transfer with the Four Seasons Nursing Home and eventually became a Director of Nursing at their Boulevard facility, eventually being promoted to the Nurse Consultant position for their statewide facilities. In 1999, Carol accepted an administrative position with the Healthcare Computer Corporation as their senior technical writer, retiring in 2008.
Through the years, Carol and Roy rescued many dogs and lovingly raised them. At the time of her death, Carol had three furry friends, Wally, Peanut and Rufus.
