Orrin Lionel Hilyard Jr.

November 2, 1929 - December 30, 2018

Memorial Service: 1 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2019 in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Michael Waschevski officiating. A meet and greet of friends and family will follow in the atrium by the sanctuary.  Visitation: 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Thompson’s Harveson and Cole Funeral Home.

Brothers and guests of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity will conduct The Bond Eternal ritual following at another location.

Honorary Pallbearers: Members of Westminster Class of First Presbyterian Church and the Brothers of Delta Sigma Phi.

Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to First Presbyterian Church, the Edna Gladney Center for Adoption, or Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity, Eta Chapter.

Orrin Lionel Hilyard Jr., 89, died Sunday, December 30, 2018.

Orrin was born November 2, 1929 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a 1948 graduate of Paschal High School, and a 1952 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in journalism.

Orrin was a life member and alumni officer of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity, active with the local chapter, the national fraternity, frequent Convention attendee, former ACB President, decorated alumnus, and Pilgrim. His love of and service to Delta Sigma Phi at all levels spanned seventy years.

Orrin was a veteran of the US Army, and a life member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Church Elder, and was a member of the Westminster Sunday School Class. He served on the Board of Directors of Poston Dry Goods, The United Way, and The Boy Scouts of America, and was a long time supporter of The Gladney Center for Adoption.

Orrin was preceded in death by his parents, Orrin and Thelma Hilyard, and his wife of fifty three years, Nancy Poston Hilyard.

Survivors: He is survived by his son, Murray W. Hilyard; and a host of loving friends.
