Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1PM with a Rosary at 12:30 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wichita Falls, Texas. Reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2250 Turtle Creek Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76309. Burial will be at a later date in Ruidoso, NM.

William Eugene McCans Jr. passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in Fort Worth.
Bill was born February 2, 1938 in Fletcher, Oklahoma to William Eugene McCans Sr. and June Marie Nickels. He served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1959. Bill married Marjorie Sue Bailey on February 16, 1960 in Midland, Texas. Bill and Sue opened their first Sonic December 3, 1973 and grew the business until it included Sonic Drive In’s in six states. Bill won the Troy Smith Award in August of 2002, the highest, most prestigious award for any Sonic franchisee. He was loyal and caring for all of his
Sonic partners and believed that to serve and care for others was the way to success. He also had a passion for Quarter horse racing, owning horses and competing for the All American Futurity in Ruidoso NM. Bill and Sue were long time fans and season ticket holders for the Dallas Mavericks. He loved sharing his passion for basketball with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. One of his favorite music lines “Put me in Coach, I am ready to Play”!
Bill was predeceased by his parents, daughter; Suzanne McCans Hergott, sister; Sue Marie McTaggart.
Survivors: wife, Marjorie Sue McCans; children, Joanne Bell, William Eugene McCans III and Steven Arthur McCans and wife, Stacie; sisters, Patricia Ann Currie and husband, Tom, and Nancy Lee Clark and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Michael McCans and wife, Jennifer, Chrystal Mercado and husband, Cesar, Kelly Bell, Tara Martin and husband, Chase, Jae Ellen Clewell, Jake Archer, Hunter McCans, Bailey McCans, Christian Hergott and Mandy Taylor McCans; great grandchildren, Michael William Spencer, Kiersten McCans, Olivia Martin, Cesar Mercado and Oliver Martin.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers; Danny Johnson, Bobby Merritt, Joe Moore, Brooks Wright, Gary Kinslow, Darrell Rogers and Dan Winters.
