Obituary of Minnie Regina Wiggins
Minnie Regina “Jean” Hays Wiggins, 96, was born on February 12, 1929, in Parkersburg, West Virginia. She passed away on March 10, 2025, entering her eternal home.
After graduating from Parkersburg HS, she met and married the boy from the next hill over, Ray Wiggins. They had two sons, David born in 1953 and Doug born in 1956. In 1959, they were transferred from the hills of West Virginia to Fort Worth, Texas.
Jean was known as a sweet and gentle woman of great faith in the Lord that was reflected in her daily life. She was a caring and giving woman who touched every life she met.
After moving to Texas, they became active members of the Meadowbrook church of Christ where she was a Sunday school teacher, visitation team leader, casserole maker and church secretary.
In 1979, they were transferred back to work in West Virginia. After Ray’s retirement in 1992, they moved back to Fort Worth.
Sitting on her back porch swing in the early morning sun with an ever-present cup of coffee, she was an avid reader and crossword and word search fanatic. She also created beautiful needlepoint and custom quilts. But her best times were those spent with family. From watching over Papaw in his woodshop to taking walks with the grandkids through the park next door, Mimi, as she became known as, was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grand-mother, great-grandmother and friend.
In her later years she always said, “You know, I’ve lived in the best of times and had a great life.” Those that know her well will unanimously agree that their lives were forever enriched by her love.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mildred Hays, her husband of 61 years, Ray, and sisters Jerry Page and JoAnn Lamp.
She is survived by her sons David and his wife Gail of Vonore, TN, Doug and his wife Teddi of Fort Worth; grandchildren Russell and his wife Amber Wiggins of Midland, TX, Randi and her husband Matthew Hissom of Culver City, CA, Sam Wiggins and Ben Wiggins of Fort Worth, TX; and great-grandchildren, Andrew and Joshua Wiggins of Midland, TX and Abigail and Charlie Hissom of Culver City, CA.
If you chose, memorial donations may be made to Christian Homes Adoption Agency, Abilene, TX, Christ’s Haven Children’s Home, Keller, TX, or your charity of choice.
