
Obituary of Gary Willis Cooper
Gary Willis (Will) Cooper died April 8, 2025.
He was a member of the Geologist Fraternity, Sigma Gamma Epsilon, recipient of the distinguished W. A. Tarr Award, and one of two in the nation hired off campus that year to work for Texaco. He went on to work as a a geologist for Anadarko and Supron and to form his own company, Sterling Energy. He was also personal geologist for the last baseball player/manager, Solly Hemus. He especially loved East Texas in Freestone County where Anadarko later located a branch location next to the first well he ever drilled.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; his son, Gregory Chance and granddaughter, Baleigh; daughter, Angela and granddaughters, Samantha, Madison and Parker; daughter, Carla and grandson, Jordan, and three great granddaughters; sister-in-law, Jane Cooper; and daughter-in-law, Joan Cooper.
Graveside Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Oakwood Cemetery, 701 Grand Avenue, Fort Worth with a gathering following at Angelo's Bar-B-Que.
