Gloria J. Medina, daughter of Amparo and Alberto Colunga, born April 15,1932 in Galveston, TX, entered into eternal glory on April 3, 2021 at the age of 88. She married her high school sweetheart, Daniel Medina Jr., on September 5, 1953. They had three children: Albert Medina (Vicky), Fr. Hector Medina, and Yolanda (Dion) DuClos. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren respectively are: Phillip (Kristin) Medina with Issac and Samuel; Jeremy (Susan) Medina with Kade, Emerson, and Easton; Danielle (Jason) Northouse; and Salina DuClos; and Dion DuClos II.
For the majority of her life, Gloria worked as a switchboard operator for the phone company and the Champlin petroleum corporation. She embraced life with the gift of her faith. A lover of hats and creator of beautiful afghans, she invested herself in the lives of not only her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, but also into the personal lives of her friends, their friends, her Galveston family, beauticians, nail stylists, office personnel, priests, nurses, doctors, waiters, being mother to all of them. Her charity stemmed from a deep devotion to the Miraculous Medal and her favorite Scripture, Phil 4:13: In He who is the source of my strength, I have strength for everything. She walked into Christ’s resurrection at home surrounded by her daughter and family.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, 5 siblings, and her beloved husband of 43 years, Daniel. Widowed for 24 years, she spoke often that she had a date with her husband awaiting her in heaven.
