August 30, 1942 - October 22, 2017
Margaret Ella “Sam” Rausch (Sims), aged 75, went peacefully to be with the Lord Jesus Christ in the Kingdom on Sunday October 22, 2017.
Margaret was born August 30, 1942, in Fort Worth, Texas to Myrtle Frances Sims (Fergason) and Richard Bruce Sims. She was a graduate of Castleberry High School in 1960 and graduated with a degree in education from Texas Tech in 1965. She lived in many different places , including Fort Worth, Lubbock, El Paso, Aledo, Weatherford, TX, Ruidoso, NM, before settling back into her childhood home in River Oaks, TX. Margaret was an educator for over 40 years. She worked at many levels in the public and private school systems in El Paso, Lubbock, Aledo and Fort Worth. Later in her life, she worked as a GED educator with the private prison facility CCA in Mineral Wells. She thoroughly enjoyed giving hope to those who had made a mistake in their life, by helping them achieve an education through the GED program. Margaret was married to Donald Lee Rausch in 1977, and had their one and only son, Michael Thomas Rausch in 1982. Margaret and her family owned and operated a horse racing farm in Berino, NM for many years called the My Rockin’ R horse ranch. Margaret loved being around horses and the community in which horse racing was a part of her life. Margaret was a lover of all things Southwest, both in the rich heritage and the motif associated. She loved deeply all those who surrounded her. Margaret had a kind happy spirit, seemingly always with a smile that was infectious to many.
Survivors include her only son, Michael Thomas Rausch, and her sister, Linda Kay Farrington (Sims). Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Donald Lee Rausch, her brother Richard Sims, her mother Myrtle Frances Sims (Fergason), and her father Richard Bruce Sims. She also has a daughter-in-law Laura Elizabeth Rausch, a granddaughter Evelyn Grace Rausch, with soon-to-be grandson Henry Thomas Rausch.
Many thanks to the staff and volunteers at Parkwood Healthcare and Heart to Heart Hospice.
