Obituary of Chris Barry Gililland
Chris Barry Gililland, 69, of Fort Worth, passed away on January 20, 2022.He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen; sister, Juanice Kirby of Bryan, TX; children, Chad (Cheyenne) Gililland of Denver, CO; Crista (Ryan) Saunders of Roanoke, VA; and Brent (Tierney) Preston of Lubbock, TX; six grandchildren: Haley and Luke Saunders; Brentley, Lincoln, Copley, and Logan Preston; and one grand-dog, Ernie Gililland.Born in 1952 to CB and Juanita Gililland in Lubbock, Texas, he graduated from Monterey High School in 1971.He worked as an electrician for many years before becoming a pilot. He flew for Furrs Cafeteria as their corporate pilot, then went on to become a flight instructor after moving to DFW in 2004. He was loved by both his colleagues and students for his great sense of humor and engaging form of teaching.In his free time he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, being outdoors doing whatever he did on his land in Oklahoma and joking around with his friends and family. He was an incredibly gifted craftsman. He built their home inside of an airplane hanger. Flying planes was not enough for him, he also built his own plane. If there was a problem, he was going to figure out how to solve it.
