Obituary of Katherine Jordan Moody

Katherine “Kitsy” Jordan Moody died on November 3, 2018 due to complications of pneumonia.Kitsy was born on June 21, 1931 in Kirkwood, Missouri to John H. and Elizabeth W. Jordan. She is a graduate of Kirkwood High School and attended Hollins College in Roanoke, Virginia where she met her future husband, Warren L. Moody, Jr. After raising her children, Kitsy returned to college at Texas Christian University and was a summa cum laude graduate in 1994 with a degree in Art History.Kitsy worked many jobs over the years: teacher’s assistant in Fort Worth ISD, Secretary to the Modern Languages Department at Texas Christian University, Secretary to the Chancellor of TCU for Dr. William Tucker. She retired but found it too exhausting and returned to work at TCU in Mary Couts Burnett Library. Kitsy worked as a volunteer for many years for Meals of Wheels of Tarrant County.Her love of music motivated her to sing in the St. Stephen Presbyterian Church choir. From there, she became a member of the Schola Cantorum. After several years singing with Schola, she became a member of the Schola Cantorum Board of Directors. As a woman of the convenant, Kitsy was a member of St. Stephen Presbyterian Church for over 40 years. She served on the session of St. Stephen as an Ordained Elder.Kitsy is preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Jordan; sister, Mariana Jordan Ramsey; brother-in-law, Stanton Ramsey, brother, John H. Jordan; Jr.; and her son, Dr. Warren L. Moody III.Kitsy is survived by her husband of 67 years, the Reverend Warren L. Moody, Jr.; daughter, Dr. Janet Moody Melton; son-in-law, Mr. Gary L. Melton; grandson, Mr. Christopher “Chris” Melton; sister-in-law, Mrs. Jane Moody Swan; sister-in-law, Mrs. Robbin Jordan; and several nieces and nephews; and all those who knew and loved her.
