Obituary of John Roy Terrell
Roy Terrell passed away at home on Thursday, February 3, in the arms of his adoring wife and best friend, Wendy. At that moment, the world lost a truly remarkable man as he was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven. His life was marked by and influenced by his Catholic faith, which he practiced as a quiet and contemplative man. He was proud of his large Irish family and cherished his time with them. He was witty, positive, always happy, and saw only the best in everyone he met. Roy was famously fond of golf, never leaving home without his clubs in the car. His enthusiasm for sports, especially OSU teams, gave him an encyclopedic knowledge of players, teams, and games. He enjoyed many years as a successful outdoor advertising businessman throughout Texas and Oklahoma. He was deferential and considerate of others and never put himself first. Roy was the best husband and confidant, and was never without sound and sensible advice.Much to Wendy’s surprise, he became a backyard tomato farmer and was always proud of his crop. He and Wendy enjoyed a love and devotion that was constant and sweet for 38 years. They were inseparable and he will be forever missed.Roy is also survived by his sister, Patricia McAboy of Oklahoma City; his brother, Richard Terrell of Richardson, TX; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
