Obituary of Glenda Sproles Rattikin

Glenda Sproles Rattikin, 84, peacefully ascended to her Lord and Savior on January 2, 2019, after a brief illness.Glenda, married for 64 years to her loving husband, Jack Rattikin Jr., was a lifelong citizen of her beloved Fort Worth. She attended Paschal High School and the University of Texas at Austin, where she was a devoted member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Glenda enjoyed a passion for family, raising four children and instilling in them her love of family, friends and travel.Extremely active in her community, Glenda spent countless hours playing leadership roles in her cherished philanthropies, including Fort Worth Panhellenic Council, CampFire, Colonial golf tournament, Jewel Charity Ball, Kimbell Art Museum, Canwick and Rondelay. Mrs. Rattikin was ever so proud to serve as the First Lady of both the Texas Land Title Association and the American Land Title Association. Her free time was filled with travel, navigating her family through virtually every state and national park in the family’s infamous motor home (affectionately known as “The Bus”). She dearly loved gazing for hours on end over the water, whether on a cruise, the deck of her lake house, or the beaches near Destin, Florida, truly her “Happy Place”.Glenda excelled at her favorite pastimes, needlepoint and bridge, and was known and appreciated for her tremendous flair for modern design, style, art and architecture. Home time meant watching sports by the fireplace, rooting on her beloved Longhorns, Cowboys, Rangers, and tennis stars. Mostly, she took extreme joy and pride in her family, revealing what it means to fully love and cherish all that are dear.Glenda was preceded in death by her father, William Sproles, mother, Edith Sproles and sister, Deanna Reese.In the end, Beauty, Grace, Love, Faith and Honor define the extraordinary life of our wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be cherished forever.She is survived by her husband, Jack Rattikin, Jr.; her son, Jack Rattikin III and wife, Laura, her daughter, Alicia Rattikin Lindsey and husband, Stephen, her son, Jeffrey A. Rattikin, and her daughter, Allyson Rattikin Grona and husband, Brian. Glenda is also survived by 11 amazing grandchildren, one great-grandchild, the Al Reese family of Houston, and the Ann and Bill Thurman family of Austin.
