Frank Robert Ball Jr. of Fort Worth TX died peacefully at home July 29, 2017.Bob was born January 1927 in Creston, IA to Frank Robert Ball Sr. and Irene Sweeney Ball. After graduating from high school in Des Moines, IA, he enlisted in the Navy and served as a Midshipman. He earned a Bachelor’s and law degree from Drake University, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Later, he earned an MBA from University of Chicago. He began his law career in the trust department of Continental Bank and retired as a partner in Rosenthal & Schanfield of Chicago. He and Mona McCandless Tull of Fort Worth married in 2006. They divided their time between Naples, FL and Fort Worth, eventually settling in Fort Worth.He was an avid supporter of the arts and lover of opera. He was a trustee of the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Naples Philharmonic, and Fort Worth Opera. In addition, he was an active supporter of the Chicago Symphony and the Fort Worth Symphony. He also had a passion for the water as a weekend sailor for years, navigating the waters of Lake Michigan and the Gulf of Mexico.He was predeceased by his wife, Jacqueline Kahler Ball, their son John Kahler Ball, his sister, Martha Ball McGowan, and stepson John Hugh Tull, Jr.He is survived by his wife Mona McCandless Tull Ball of Fort Worth TX; sister Patricia Henderson of Del Ray Beach FL; son Robert and wife Sherrill Ball of Walworth WI; daughter Margaret and husband Dana Bovbjerg of Pittsburgh PA; sister-in-law Barbra McColm of Fort Worth TX; stepson Mac and wife Connie Tull of Fort Worth; stepdaughter Janie and husband Mike Watson of Cape Elizabeth, ME; grandchildren Miranda Ball, Bobby Ball, Josiah Ball, Katrin Bovbjerg, Britt Bovbjerg, and Mieke Bovbjerg; step-grandchildren Trey and wife Leah Tull, Liza and husband Brandon Baker, Katie Tull, Merriwether and husband William Evans, Christopher Tull, Nora Watson, Malika Watson, and Harrison Watson; two great-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.
