Obituary of David Paul Derber

David Paul Derber died at home on Saturday June 17, 2017.David Paul Derber was born July 29, 1948 to Virginia and Donald Derber in Oshkosh, WI. In 1952, David’s family moved to Pittsburgh, PA where he attended school and graduated from Moon High School in 1966. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1971 with a degree in engineering and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from SMU in 1974.David practiced law in the field of real estate and finance in Houston with Vinson Elkins from 1974 to 1983, and in Dallas with Hughes and Luce from 1983 to 1988, then with Kelly, Hart & Hallman in Fort Worth from 1988 to 2009.He served on the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Association of Bank Counsel and was a frequent lecturer and writer for Texas continuing legal education programs. He received special honors in the Order of Coif and was a member of Phi Delta Phi. David was a member of the Presbyterian Church.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Suzanne Sheffel Derber, his mother, Virginia Derber, his father, Donald Derber and his brother, Dale Derber.Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Christine Derber; son, Geoffrey Derber and wife, Ambrey; daughter, Vicky and husband, Matthew Bass; sister, Dr. Jeanne Derber; brother, Dan Derber; grandchildren, Katy and Will Bass; and stepchildren, Jonathan, Joel and Jamie Nesvadba.
