Obituary of Jane Hope Zimmerman Stevens

Jane Hope Zimmerman Stevens, 76, died Friday, November 3, 2017 after a courageous battle with Alzheimers.Jane Hope Zimmerman Stevens was born April 11, 1941 in Ferguson, Missouri, the feisty, spirited daughter of Ralph C. and Hope Holloway Zimmerman. After high school, she began working as a secretary in the St. Louis Metro Police Department. Ever the independent woman, Jane worked to support her three children and soon became a Dispatcher.In 1972, she married Wilburn Stevens and they moved to Texas and, in 1975, they were blessed with the arrival of twins.Jane’s business acumen was obvious as she was co-owner of Pan American Concrete and Co-Founder and CFO of Delta Petroleum. She began a career in financial services in the 1980’s and after working at various firms, she continued her career at Morgan Stanley. She rose to the position of Sr. Vice President and retired in 2015 from her caring and beloved work family at Morgan Stanley.In addition to her work career, Jane was very active at Church of The Holy Apostles and served as a member and board member at various organization including the DAR, Guardianship Services and the Samaritan House. She loved shopping, gardening, sharp-witted conversations and “Texas Hold ’em”. She truly loved people, but her grand and great grandchildren were the greatest love of her life.In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Wilburn Stevens, and her son, Terry.Special thanks to all the wonderful caregivers who so graciously loved and supported Jane and her family through these last years.Survivors include her children: Mark Stevens; Larry Wheelan and wife, Edith; Debi Wheelan; Cynthia Conner and husband, Ethan; Jennifer Murray and husband, Jerry; Kimberly Pafford and husband, Mark; “favorite daughter”, Meredith Bass and husband, John; twelve grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren.
