Obituary of Patrick Edward Cooney
Patrick Edward Cooney, 31, passed away on October 24, 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas with his family by his side. Patrick died of a Glioblastoma brain tumor after battling for 4 courageous years.Born in Fort Worth, Texas he was the son of Robert and Carmen Cooney and the brother of Bridget Cooney. He attended St Andrew’s Catholic School, McLean Middle School, and R L Paschal High School where he graduated in 2009. He was a proud member of the Paschal Marching Band, played the Bari Saxophone, and received his letter jacket. He also played with the Paschal Jazz Band and enjoyed eclectic styles of music, especially classic rock. Patrick was a National Hispanic Scholar and received a full scholarship to attend the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. There he was an active member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity and the Hispanic Society. While on summer break at UNL he traveled to Ireland and studied Irish Law at the University of Limerick. Patrick loved both Ireland and Nebraska and had hoped to go back to visit. He graduated from UNL in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Business degree with an emphasis in Economics. After graduation Patrick returned to Fort Worth and worked in the banking industry.Patrick began scouting as a Tiger Cub and eventually earned rank of Life Scout. He was also an Honor Society member of The Order of the Arrow. He grew up camping and being outdoors. He was an avid gamer and loved playing online computer, RPG table top, and board games. Patrick couldn’t resist a good game and spending time with family and friends. He loved leatherworking and making his own costumes for Halloween and Renaissance Faires. He was a huge Star Wars fan and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t tell you about it. Patrick loved collecting and had several collections of oddities.Patrick is survived by his parents Robert and Carmen Cooney, his sister Bridget Cooney and her partner Cameron Logue, his Grandmother Maria Quaintance, his aunt Dr Vanesa Gregory, and his cousins Elizabeth Caldwell, Stephen Balling, Shawn Caldwell, Courtney Reynosa, Ashley Beathard, and Rikki Quaintance.Patrick will be remembered for his witty and a bit sarcastic sense of humor, his passion for perfection, his undying loyalty to family and friends, and being fiercely protective of those he cared about.Flowers are welcome but if you prefer you can make a donation in memory of Patrick to a cancer organization or charity of your choice.
