Obituary of Laura Frances Wray
Laura Frances Wray, 68, passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 12, 2021.Laura attended Arlington Heights High School and Western Hills High School in Fort Worth. In 1972, she accompanied her family overseas to Vicenza, Italy. During that time, she attended and graduated from the University of Maryland European Division with a Bachelor degree in History. After returning to Texas in 1977, she taught on the Tigua Indian Reservation with Ysleta ISD. a suburb of El Paso. In 1980, she again accompanied her family overseas. During that time, she was employed as executive secretary to the principal of Vicenza American High School, Vicenza, Italy. She held that position until 1984 when she and her family returned to Texas. At Fort Hood, she taught reading for a brief time at junior high level. From 1986 until 1999, she and her family co-owned and operated a Greek and Italian restaurant called “The Appian Way Mediterranean Ristorante.” In 1999 she and her brother decided that they wanted to move back to Fort Worth where she lived until her passing. During that time, she was the Internet editor and typesetter for the local newspaper in the town where she had previously lived.She was an inspiration to everyone who came in her path. During her 33 year battle with multiple sclerosis that left her quadriplegic from 2004 onward, she NEVER complained, offering her disability up to God. She always awoke in the morning cheerful and anxious with enthusiasm to enjoy the day that God provided her. She was loved by all. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, gardening, sewing and reading. Cooking was her biggest passion.She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Walter Phillips, mother, Frances Josephine Wray, an infant sister Mary Ann, grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins.She is survived by her brother, Eugene Phillips of Fort Worth, several cousins, aunts and uncles.Laura was a devout Catholic who was faithful to God all of her life.
