Obituary of Marvin Perry Rudd

Marvin Perry Rudd, 97, a retired purchasing manager died Nov. 9, 2021.A native of Wichita Falls, Marvin was born June 29, 1924, in Electra, TX, the son of Marvin Mansfield Rudd and Dollie B. Howard Rudd. He graduated from Wichita Falls Senior High School on May 23, 1941 and attended Texas A&M University from Sept. 1941 through Dec. 1942.During World War II he volunteered for the US Army in January of 1943 and served with the 86th Blackhawk Infantry Division as Field Wire Chief in the Field Artillery section. The division served in France, Belgium, Germany and Austria, as well as other locations in Europe and the Philippines.Following his discharge in March 1946, Marvin attended Midwestern University in Wichita Falls. He joined General Dynamics Corporation in Fort Worth in 1956 where he served in the Material Purchasing Department. He purchased systems for the B-36, B-58, F-102, F-106, F-111 and the F-16 aircraft. He then joined Rockwell International Corporation’s Space Shuttle Program. Rockwell transferred Marvin in 1977 to its Collins Communications Systems Division in Richardson where he served as manager of Sub-contract Administration until his retirement August 31, 1984. Marvin was a 60 year Mason, Scottish Rite and Shriner.He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Clark Rudd.Survivors: Son, Marvin Perry Rudd II; daughter, Katherine Camille Rudd Clemens and husband, Mark Thomas Clemens; grandsons, David Bryan Clemens and wife, Joni, Christopher Neal Clemens and wife, Christie, and Skyler Cory Rudd; and great grandchildren, Payton, Cacie, Cody, and Samuel.
