Obituary of Maxine Collins Dew
Maxine Collins Dew, 97, died peacefully on Monday, November 12, 2018.Maxine was born November 4, 1921 to Rallie Lee and Hollin Barge Collins in Fairburn, Georgia. She attended southern schools and graduated with an associate business degree. She married Judge Raymond Dew before he left overseas for World War II.After brief stops in South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia they settled in Raleigh, North Carolina, to raise their three children, Bobby, Suzanne, and Carolyn. As a child of the depression she was always grateful for what she had. Her family was always first and foremost as exhibited by her selfless acts. She and Judge Dew were long time members of Hayes Barton Baptist Church where they regularly attended Sunday school before Church services.Upon her husbands passing, Maxine moved to Fort Worth to be close to family. She adopted Texas has her home state where she quickly learned to line dance. She was especially an ardent supporter of the Texas Rangers where she could be heard providing vocal managerial advice while watching most every game. Maxine was a southern woman, complete with accent, who insisted on manning the rudder until the very end.She was preceded in death by her son, Bobby Dew, and her husband, Judge Raymond Dew.We would like to thank her caretakers at Brookdale Broadway Citiview and a special thank you to Gwen Robb and Maria Cazares for their years of dedicated service.Maxine is survived by her daughters, Suzanne and husband, Mark Nelson, Carolyn and husband, Chris Gruensfelder; grandchildren, Edward Riggsbee and Leslie Riggsbee Knight, Courtney and Caroline Gruensfelder; great grandchildren, Hailey and Caleb Knight; and numerous nephews and nieces.
