Obituary of Deborah Ann Greer Chidgey
Deborah Ann Greer Chidgey, 65, passed away on February 27, 2019.Debbie was born March 6, 1953 in Richmond, CA to Samuel Leon Greer and Dorothy Ann Tucker and grew up in Cleburne. She attended Cleburne High School where she was a member of Barton House. While in high school, she worked for the Cleburne Chamber of Commerce. Later, she worked in the medical field at Scott & White in Temple and in Houston. Debbie worked for Dr. Raines in Cleburne and the Leonard Brothers of Fort Worth. She was the manager of Custom Imprint and eventually for the last 30 years was a brilliant, insightful and sensitive paralegal and legal secretary with the Chidgey Law Firm.Deb was an accomplished trick water skier; loved horses and for maintaining straight “A’s” was given her beloved buckskin “Candy”. Deb rode everywhere including Texas, New Mexico and the Blue Mountains of Jamaica.Debbie raised and campaigned English Bull Terriers, winning blue ribbons for “Tawpie” and “Cutter.” Debbie fell in love with a Boxer named “Boots” and then “Roxie” both of which were her protectors and companions. Her pet friend was a Blue and Gold Macaw hatched on St. Patrick’s Day and whom she called “Malarkey.”Debbie was an absolute wiz of a typist. She was a great seamstress and a fabulous cook. She perfected the family “Chidgey Chili” recipe and her own award winning “Catalina” potato salad. She was also great dancer whether on the floor of a dance hall or in the kitchen with little Katie Chidgey.Deb was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Ann Greer in July 2017 and her brother, James Leon Greer in January 2018.She is survived by her husband, John Thomas Chidgey; son, Martin Lee Griffith III; step-daughter, Jennifer Gerri Chidgey and wife, Jennifer Miller; step-son, John-Paul Chidgey and wife, Amanda and their children, John-Luke and Tex; step-daughter, Julia Patricia Pahr and husband, Kyle and their children, Eve and Sophia-Jean; father, S. Leon Greer; sisters, Cynthia Lynn Greer Caltagirone and husband, Tony, of Charleston, SC, Alta Christine Greer Simpson and husband, George, of Pleasanton, CA; nephews, Jerrett Martin Greer, Travis Gage Pope and Cole Tucker Simpson; nieces, Leah Pope and Audrey Simpson; and numerous cousins.
