Ada Elizabeth “Betsy” Barnes transitioned peacefully on May 11, 2017 into new life without pain.Born May 3, 1954 in Elizabethton, Tennessee. Betsy grew up in Elizabethton, graduated from Elizabethton High School, and East Tennessee State University with a B.S. degree in Radio/TV/Film.Betsy was preceded in death by her parents, J.M. and Elva Barnes of Elizabethton.Betsy started her career in Public Relations, Marketing and Special Events in Dallas and Los Angeles. Her passion and devotion to family brought her back to Fort Worth where she started her career in Real Estate.Betsy was involved in numerous organizations including the Jewel Charity Ball, Junior League of Fort Worth, Fort Worth Garden Club, Circle Theatre, YWCA, Fort Worth Lecture Foundation, Doris Kupferle Breast Center Advisory Board, and the Greater Fort Worth Association of RealtorsShe is survived by her sister, Beverlee Herd and her husband, Dr. Jim Herd, nieces, Leslie Herd-Bond (Steve Bond) and Lori Harbuck (Craig), nephews, Dr. Jay Herd (Julie) and Jon Herd (Paige), grand nieces, Beth Ann Herd, Beverlee Harbuck, and Allison Herd, grand nephews, Matthew Harbuck, Jonathan Herd-Bond, Madison Harbuck, Jimmy Herd-Bond, Alex Herd, Phillip Herd, and James Herd, her three rescue dogs, Bailey, Biscuit, and Chili, and her special friend Bill Crawford.
