Obituary of Leo Garrett Perdue
Leo Garrett Perdue, 70, died on July 25, 2017.Leo Garrett Perdue was born on October 7, 1946 in Paul’s Valley, Oklahoma to Leo Dennis and Lottie May Stanton Perdue. He was an All-State Tournament basketball player and was on the 1964 State Championship team. Leo received his PhD in Hebrew Bible and Linguistics from Vanderbilt University in 1975. He served as professor of Hebrew Bible, as Dean and was the first President of Brite Divinity School. When he retired in 2011, he was voted Professor Emeritus of Hebrew Bible. During his career, he was the author of several books.Survivors: His children, Nicole Ryan and husband, Reid, Hayden Perdue and wife, Sherry, Jillian Kata and husband, Matt; grandchildren, Jackson, Victoria and Ella Ryan; Avery and Chase Perdue; Gentry and Tripp Kata; brother, Danny Perdue.
