Obituary of Rolland Fredrick Oakes

Rolland F. Oakes, M.D., 92, passed away at his home in Dennis, Texas on June 23, 2018.Dr. Oakes was born in Steen, MN in 1926. He graduated from the University of Missouri, where he was captain of the football team for two years. During WW II, he served in the United States Naval Flight Corps. He graduated from medical school in Louisville, KY. He served as a flight surgeon in the USAF during the Korean War and later was decorated while in the USAF Reserves.He was head of Radiology at Harris Hospital, Downtown Fort Worth, for 29 years. He is remembered for his great kindness to all those around him, whether at work, play or with family. His love was his time with his children, grandchildren and close friends out in the country. He truly enjoyed his country and holiday gatherings. He liked flying as a private pilot and travel to the mountains and Alaska… and his time with his dogs and with horses.Dr. Oakes is survived by his children, Tim Oakes and his wife, Q Oakes, Luzon Oakes Thompson and Stephanie Oakes Boswell; grandchildren, Curt Boswell, Kelly Oakes, Matt Boswell, and Skylar Boswell.
