Obituary of Sarah Ann Whiting Tate

Sarah Ann Whiting Tate passed away peacefully on March 14, 2022, at the age of 84. Sarah was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Dr. Walter B. and Dorothy Henderson Whiting. She was a long-time resident of Wichita Falls and spent her later years in Fort Worth.An excellent student with a love of learning, Sarah attended the University of Texas at Austin. She was a member of Chi Omega and earned a bachelor of science degree with honors in nutrition. She was a loving and devoted mother to three children – Wally, Lori and Charles – whom she shared with former husband Frank Tate (of Wichita Falls).Sarah was a dedicated long-time member of First Christian Church in Wichita Falls, where she taught children’s Sunday School and was involved in circle groups, as well as of Trinity Episcopal Church in Fort Worth. She loved music and enjoyed singing in school a cappella choirs and in church worship. Most importantly, she imparted her strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to her children. In addition, Sarah was a Camp Fire leader and a church handbell and tennis mom. She will always be remembered by her family for her sweet smile and her kind and generous spirit.The family wishes to thank Broadway Plaza Cityview personnel for the care provided her over many years, especially Pearle, Brenda and others in skilled nursing, and also Heart to Heart Hospice for their care during her final days before entering into her eternal rest with the Lord.Sarah is survived by her sister Helen Whiting Wallace of Wichita Falls; son Walter Erton (Wally) Tate and wife Darla of Fort Worth; daughter Dorothy Lorene (Lori) Tate and David Ledel of Fort Worth; grandson William Walter (Will) Tate with wife Natalie and great granddaughters Noelle Virginia Tate and Claire Catherine Tate, of San Antonio; and grandson Andrew Langford (Ford) Tate of Lincoln, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Charles Whiting Tate; daughter-in-law, Virginia Langford Tate; and brother-in-law, Lesley B. Wallace.
