Obituary of William Doyle Read

William Doyle Read Sr., 82, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017.He was born to William Gibeon Read and Reva Laurene Read in 1935. He was married to Frances Goldthwaite Read for 57 years. Bill served in the U.S. Army. He was Chairman of the Board of Goldthwaite’s of Texas, Inc. and also served as Chairman of Fidelity National Bank. Bill was involved in various community organizations, including as President of the Fort Worth Horseshoe Club. He served on the vestry of All Saints’ Episcopal Church and School. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law, Hugh Pitts, his brother-in-law, Jeff Garrison, and his nephew, Jeffrey Pitts.Survivors: Wife, Frances Goldthwaite Read; sister, Jane Read Garrison; son, William D. Read Jr. and wife, Ellen; son, Robert Bowen Read and wife, Temple; son, James Wesley Read and wife, Traci; sister-in-law, Aniela Pitts; brother-in-law, Frank Goldthwaite and wife, Kay; grandchildren, William D. Read III and Amy Read; and numerous nieces and nephews.
