Obituary of Joe Fred Cardenas

Joe Fred Cardenas, 70, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 21, 2018.He was born on October 7, 1948, in Brownsville, Texas to Alfredo and Eloisa (Weaver) Cardenas. He graduated from Brownsville High School and attended Texas A&I University-Kingsville, Texas. Joe was an avid baseball and basketball player throughout his youth. As a young adult, he enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and fishing with his parents.In 1985, he was born again and received the baptism in the Holy Spirit. From that point forward, he dedicated his life to serving God and serving in the church. At his church in Harlingen, Texas he was the Sunday School Superintendent, worked with the Royal Rangers, served as an usher and greeter and was involved in the Men’s Bible Study group. In 1992, after moving to the DFW metroplex, Joe continued to serve in his local church as an usher and greeter. In the last three years, he has been a member of City Life Church in Fort Worth, Texas, where his son-in-law works as a staff pastor.He was preceded in death by his parents.He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Paula Cardenas, and his two children: Rodney Weaver (Janie) and Janna Cardenas-Creson (Jordan); his grandchildren, Drew Weaver, Alex Weaver, Daniel Weaver, Ryder Creson, and Peyton Creson; sister, Julie Cardenas-Rosales (Rosalio); and nieces, Michelle Piñeda (Arnold), Amanda Rosales and Melissa Anzaldua (Michael).
