Obituary of Velma Marie Plaisance Leach

Velma Marie Leach, 92, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017.Born in 1924 in Lockport, Louisiana to Marie and Noah Plaisance, Velma was valedictorian of her high school class and went to work in New Orleans where she met her husband, Roy Leach of Georgia. The couple moved to Texas shortly thereafter. Roy and Velma and their five children were active members of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic parish and school in Fort Worth. Velma was an avid reader, tennis player, and dabbled in drawing and painting. She served as secretary for Fort Worth Garden Club for several years. Velma and Roy shared a love of adventure and enjoyed road trips as well as traveling abroad. Her indefatigable spirit lives on in those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Leach; son, Timothy James Leach; daughter, Mary Krista Smith; and her brother, Noah Joseph Plaisance.She is survived by her brother, Herman Plaisance of Lockport, Louisiana; daughter, Margaret Ellen Leach; sons, John William and Michael Thomas Leach of Fort Worth; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
