Obituary of William Fredrick Reeves
William “Bill” Fredrick Reeves, died Wednesday, June 2, 2021 on the anniversary of his grandmother’s birthday.Bill was born October 11, 1928 at his grandparent’s farm in Johnson County. He attended South Fort Worth Elementary, Rosemont Middle School and R.L. Paschal High School. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Texas Christian University, but he always said that he majored in “Girls”.While working at Kress in downtown Fort Worth, he met Anne Elizabeth Simon. He was drafted in 1951 and served in the United States Army until 1953. He was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso and found his way back to Fort Worth to visit Anne as often as he could. He and Anne married on May 2, 1953 at Saint Patrick Cathedral.Bill began work at General Motors before the first car rolled off the line. He and Anne moved to Arlington in 1955 where they lived for many years. They welcomed three children, Marianna, Shannon and Trish.Bill was a member of Saint Maria Goretti, Saint Thomas, Holy Name and Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Churches where he served on Finance Committees and was a member of the Men’s Club. He also served on the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities Fort Worth for many years. A coin collector and avid gardener, he enjoyed playing tennis until the age of 86. After 35 years of marriage, Bill lost his beloved Anne, who died too soon on Saint Patrick’s Day in 1988. He later married Dorothy Nesmith and they celebrated 29 years of marriage before she died in 2019. He truly understood the meaning of love and commitment.Bill loved corny jokes, big hugs and all expressions of kindness. He was totally devoted to his family. His son, Shannon, described him as “an exceptional human being” and the rest of his family wholeheartedly agree!Bill was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Flora Brown Reeves; his wives, Anne and Dorothy; and his brother-in-law, Rab Parks.He is survived by his children, Marianna Reeves Stone and husband, Tony, Shannon Reeves and partner, Bonnie Scaggs, Trish Reeves and husband, Alan Hood; grandchildren, Simon Reeves, Jessica Reeves Felong and husband, Matt, Caitlyn Hood and partner, Lauren Ayala, Rob Ritter, Anne Ritter Dougherty and husband, Andrew, Emily Ritter and partner, Jake Gerson, Erick Reeves Ritter and partner, Haley Stratton; great-grandchildren, Emma Reeves and Henry Felong; sister, Florene Reeves Parks; extended family members of the Reeves, Simon, Nesmith, Brown, Kelley and Parks families.
