Obituary of Mary Ann Pibil Gardner

Mary Ann Gardner, 90, of Fort Worth, Texas passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, March 5, 2022 with her family by her side.Mary Ann was born in Uniontown, Alabama, the daughter of Theodore and Lenora Pibil. She was a graduate of Parrish High School in Selma and earned degrees from Stephen’s College and Auburn University. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Mary Ann taught school in both California and Texas.While teaching school in Houston, she met Bill Gardner, a student at Baylor College of Medicine on a blind date. Mary Ann and Dr. Bill were married in 1958 and raised five children in Mansfield and Fort Worth Texas. Mary Ann was a devoted mother to her children, she adored her grandkids, and loved her canine companions.Mary Ann was active in the Women’s Work of the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth where she was a longtime member. She also was a member of the ‘93 Club.Mary Ann was an avid baseball fan and season ticket holder of the Texas Rangers. She also enjoyed going to spring training in Florida. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and kids especially to Prague in the Czech Republic. When her children were grown, she reunited with her “keen teens” friends from high school meeting annually at the beach.Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Lenora Pibil, her husband William R Gardner, her brother Ted Pibil, and grandson Casey Sullivan.Mary Ann is survived by her children and their spouses, Mary Catherine and Dan Patterson, Russell Gardner and Bobbie Sullivan, Laurie Dirks and Robby Hogan, Amy Landers, and John and Maria Gardner; grandchildren, Morgan and Catherine Patterson, Grant Patterson, Spencer Patterson, Blake Patterson, Jaime and Nick Cassidy, Robbie Landers, Emilie Shores, and Andy Gardner; great grandchildren, Breanna Sullivan, Christian Cassidy, and Jameson Cassidy; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
