Obituary of Patsy Lou Speeler Taylor
Patsy Taylor passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, October 10, 2021.Born April 8th, 1936 in Guthrie, OK to Harry and Frances Speeler, she graduated from Crescent High School in Crescent, OK as Valedictorian, where she marched in the band and played basketball. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Master’s degree in Library Sciences from Texas Woman’s University.Patsy taught elementary school in Duncan, OK and Wichita Falls, TX, served as Head Librarian for Wichita Falls High School for 15 years and was Director of Media Services for the Wichita Falls ISD for 10 years. After retiring from education, Patsy worked as an Executive Assistant for Chase Bank in Fort Worth.A long-time member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church, she was employed as the Welcome Center Receptionist for 13 years, a position that she truly loved. In fact, she said she never had a job that she didn’t enjoy.Patsy enjoyed cooking and hosting family gatherings, including a large annual Thanksgiving meal, reading, painting, working puzzles and watching hummingbirds and sunsets from her backyard deck. Her love, wit, intelligence, and humor will be missed by all that knew her.She is survived by her husband of 62 years, George W Taylor; sons, Jeff and wife, Suzanne, Keith and girlfriend, Karen Narvaez; sisters, Vera Doughty and Mary McGuire; grandchildren, Olivia Coker and husband, Camrann, Lori Anne Taylor, Lauren Taylor, Logan Taylor and wife, Emily; great-grandchildren, Lily and Charlotte Coker; niece, Barbara Wright; nephews, Kevin McGuire and wife, Donna, Mark Taylor and wife, Lisa; brother-in-law, Marion Taylor and wife, Marlus.
