Obituary of Archie Lynn Allison
Archie Lynn Allison was born on September 1, 1941, in Stephenville, Texas. His early childhood years were spent in Hico and he graduated high school at Castleberry High in Fort Worth. He went to college at the University of North Texas and began his career at the Ben Hogan Company in 1965. He met Joy at the Ben Hogan Company and married her on December 2, 1967 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fort Worth after only three months of dating. That same year Archie got promoted to sales representative for the Ben Hogan Company. He was a top salesman in the company for 7 years and was named Master Salesman in 1969. Shortly after they were married, the two relocated to Jupiter, Florida, where they welcomed their first daughter, Sheri, in 1970. But it would be a shame to forget that before the daughter came the dog, Daiquiri. Daiquiri would travel with the family everywhere for the next 18 years. In 1972 the Allison family relocated back to Texas in a little town called DeSoto. They welcomed daughter 2, JoLyn, in 1972, quickly followed by daughter 3, Amy, in 1975. Besides a three year detour in Stephenville, the family was raised in DeSoto, which also included a change of careers from Ben Hogan to Edwin Watts Golf. The love that Archie could give was easily found in the way he raised his daughters. In the early years this could be seen with tea parties and turkey and robot dances as he put the girls to bed. As his girls grew so did the number of children that adopted him as a surrogate dad. Any friend of the girls was welcomed with open arms and there was rarely a weekend without an extra child in the family. Archie made his girls more than proud at the hours he volunteered at concession stands at Texas Stadium, fundraisers, school dances and events, and was in constant attendance in the bleachers as all of his girls performed at some point on the football field. The love and attention did not stop in the high school years, as he encouraged the girls through their first jobs, college, dogs and beginning their own families. This also led to the next highlight of his life, his grandchildren. The love that can be seen from Archie to his children and grandchildren can only be surpassed for the love of his wife. The two created a very loving home for their children and later in life shared a passion for traveling to places such as San Francisco, Boston, Canada, and Disney World. Some of Archie’s hobbies were basketball in high school, waterskiing in his late teens and early 20’s, and golf. The only passion that was stronger than these sports was his love of the Dallas Cowboys, which he passed on to all 3 of his daughters. Those left to cherish Archie’s memories include his wife of 52 years, Joy Whitfill Allison; daughter, Sheri Mills, husband Mike, children Alli, Tyler Marie, and MJ; daughter, JoLyn Skinner, husband Michael, children Boston and Brady; and daughter, Amy Allison, fiancé Bert Rivera.
