Patrick Meziere

Obituary of Patrick Glynn Meziere

Patrick Glynn Meziere, 91, passed away Monday, January 6, 2020.Patrick was born December 15, 1928, the 7th child of John Clinton Meziere and Mathilda (Dauphin/Metoyer) Meziere. His siblings were sisters, Arneda, Josephine, Gloria, Ethel Rita and Mazie Meziere, and brothers, John, Cabot and Rodney Meziere. He was born in Campti, Louisiana and the family moved to Fort Worth, Texas in July 1944. He graduated from Laneri High School and was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church. Patrick worked for the City of Fort Worth for 46 years and retired from the Purchasing Department.Patrick remained a bachelor but was known to spoil all of his sibling’s children! He was our beloved Uncle Pat. He had an especially tight bond with his nephew, Randy Horton, wife Debbie, and their daughter Alyssa, who were all very close to him. Uncle Pat was Randy’s father figure from a very young age and he enjoyed that role. He was thrilled when Randy made him an acting grandfather to Chris, Kristin and Alyssa and then great-grandfather with the births of Lilliana and Slayde.Uncle Pat was somehow close to each of us – through many stages of our lives. He made the time for his family; it was a priority to him. He was not only loved by each, but made each of us feel special. He had a photographic memory and could probably tell each of us what happened the day we were born, even when our children were born. The list is long, but Uncle Pat was loved dearly by his nieces and nephews: Garry, Yvonne and Sharon Meziere; Walter, Ronald, and Larry Welborn, and Judy Welborn Brice; Yvette Meziere; Ray, Mark, Melissa, Lisa and Glen Henson, and Randy Horton. The list of great nieces and nephews is even longer, and then add several great-great nieces and nephews and all of his cousins and extended family and friends – we would need a spreadsheet! Each of us can tell stories filled with his love and kindness as a base, but those of us in Fort Worth were especially lucky.
