Obituary of Tom Reid

Tom Reid, 94, died peacefully on January 26, 2019 after a short illness.Tom was born July 19, 1924 in Fort Worth and graduated from Paschal High School in the class of 1941. He lived most of his life in Fort Worth spending a short time in California, while working for the war efforts, where he met the love of his life Aurelya Messer. He knew after one week that “she was the one” and in October, 1946 they were married in Fort Worth.Tom started his career at Consolidated, Inc, which later became Convair, and then General Dynamics. After 41 years as a Senior Machinist, he retired in 1988. During his time at GD, he earned numerous awards for improvements in design and outstanding workmanship.An Honorary Lifetime Member of the Knights of Columbus, Tom was a Founding Member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Fort Worth. Tom and Aurelya had 4 children, Barbara Reid Ali, Camilla Reid, Tom Reid (Mary), and Shirley Clark (Kinnie). Over the years he transformed the house that he built on Lake Worth into a beautiful and tranquil home. Tom enjoyed many outdoor activities at his lakeside home. He was always willing to take a first time skier for a spin behind the boat and loved to take family and friends cruising on the old pontoon boat. There was nothing he couldn’t fix, he was the master of repairs.Survivors: His lovely wife of 72 years, Aurelya, four children, six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
