Obituary of John Stephen Araiza

John Stephen Araiza was called home to his Maker on December 21, surrounded by family and friends after a long and brave fight against cancer. He was 48 years old.John was born on September 16, 1973 to Juan and Diana Araiza of Fort Worth, Texas. He attended Saint Andrew Catholic School and Southwest High School. He later graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor’s degree in Literary Studies and a Master’s degree in English. He served as a Content Developer for Pioneer Natural Resources for a substantial portion of his career.John always enjoyed sharing his knowledge and time with others. He was an incredibly gifted and talented communicator, and possessed the sharpest wit and humor. His pleasant and jovial personality won over anyone he met. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and if you were fortunate, you may have joined John in light-hearted and engaging conversations that spanned all manner of topics. He was especially passionate about music and his favorite teams from his home state (The University of Texas Longhorns, Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks).John’s greatest pride was derived from providing for and supporting his loving family and walking through life by faith. His strong Catholic faith guided him well as a father, husband and friend. Upon relocating to Aledo, Texas, John joined the parish of Holy RedeemerCatholic Church which quickly became his new church home. He absolutely adored his beloved son, JJ and wife, Aida, and cherished his roles as both a doting father and devoted husband.John was preceded in death by his father, Juan Araiza. John is survived by his wife, Aida, and son, JJ; his mother, Diana Araiza; sisters, Maria Iyescas and her husband, Kenneth of Corpus Christi; and Natalie Araiza of Benbrook; two nieces; and many extended family members.
