Obituary of Lou Shrider

Dorothy Lou Carter Hildreth Shurtleff Shrider, 90, passed away on September 27, 2017.Lou was born in Weatherford, Texas to Acey Lofton Carter and Bertha Christine Berry Carter. She graduated from Weatherford High School in 1944 and Brantley Draughn Business College in 1949. She also attended Baylor University in Waco.Lou worked for the US Air Force from 1945-58. She was assigned in Fort Worth, at Barksdale AFB in Louisiana, Scott AFB in Bellville, Illinois, James Connally AFB in Waco, and Randolph AFB in San Antonio.Lou married Volney Hildreth in June 1958 and he died in June 1959. She then married Woodrow Shurtleff in September 1962 and he died in September 1992. She married Robert Shrider in September 1996 and he died in February 1998. Her father, Acey Carter died in 1935 and her mother, Bertha Carter Galaway, died in October 1976. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Thurman Thomas Carter in May 2009.Lou had been a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, National Council of Catholic Women, Catholic Daughters of America, RCIA and as a Eucharistic Minister as well as Ridglea Country Club and American Contract Bridge LeagueShe is survived by her brothers, Coy Paul Carter and Fred Lofton Carter; two half sisters, Bertha Jo Potts and Rosie Mims; step children, Sharon Anderson, Linda Hildreth, Kim Shurtleff Hartman, Anne Hafter,and Liz Gleason and numerous step grandchildren and nieces and nephews
