Obituary of Emily G. Davis
Emily G. Davis passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. Emily was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey and graduated from New Jersey State Teachers College (now Kean University) with a degree in Fine Arts Education. During and after World War II, she served with the American Red Cross in Italy, Germany, and the Philippines. It was while she was serving in Manila that she met and married Lt. Harry O. Davis. As a military wife, Emily lived with her family in Chicago, Omaha, St. Louis, Virginia, Hawaii, Michigan, Germany, and Corpus Christi, Texas. After retiring from the military, Emily and Harry lived in Tehran, Iran for two years before settling in Fort Worth. She was a docent at the Kimbell Art Museum for 28 years and also worked parttime at the Dallas Market Center. After the death of her husband in 1983, Emily continued her travels, enjoying many trips to her favorite places in Europe with friends. In addition to her husband, Emily was preceded in death by her son, Harry Owen Davis. Survivors are daughter Laurie Gibson and son-in-law Lyle Powers of Boulder, Colorado; daughter-in-law Glenna Witherspoon of Dallas, Texas; granddaughter Emily Gibson, grandson-in-law Aziz Abdulagatov, and great grandsons Max and Isaac of Boulder, Colorado; as well as nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
