Obituary of Cecilia Reyes

Cecilia Reyes, 80, a retired Medical Transcriptionist who worked at St. Joseph and All Saints Hospitals, Dialysis Center, and former Fort Worth Bone and Joint, died Wednesday, April 11 at home surrounded by family members.Cecilia Reyes was born February 1, 1938 in Fort Worth, Texas and lived in Fort Worth all her life. She was a graduate of Our Lady of Victory Academy, class of ’56 and enjoyed lifelong friendships with many OLV graduates. Cecilia was proficient in playing the piano and organ and studied with private instructors and at OLV. She continued her love of classical music throughout her adult life as she attended for many years the Fort Worth Symphony, Opera or Ballet performances, as well as local musicals at Casa Manana. But she was also an admirer of the Beatles, and of course Mexican and Latin singers and songs.She had an overall love of baseball, and hardly missed a Texas Rangers baseball game on TV. Even better, she was a whiz with any type of baseball trivia, and her passion for professional baseball stats, teams, and players was nurtured by her parents and uncles, following them to games as a child and enjoying local teams coached by Uncle Joe Jaso, and her great following of the early Fort Worth Cats. If you were curious about baseball trivia, Cecilia remembered many details. She was also a great fan of college football and especially Notre Dame football.Further, Cecilia volunteered for various groups and their missions throughout the years. She was a lifelong member at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, and was the church organist for many years in the 60’s and 70’s, as well as a catechist and community minister for the sick. She volunteered with the City of Fort Worth, assisting in their outreach health program in the 90’s, just to name a few things she would do for her community.She loved to travel and did so with many friends and family members going to Mexico, and throughout the United States. Cecilia was an avid reader and enjoyed especially books about WWII, the Kennedys, and baseball players.She was also a wonderful baker and baked these fantastic oatmeal cookies, and other desserts that were specialties.As a retiree, she spent her older years caring for her mother and father at home.Cecilia was preceded in death by her immediate family members, her mother, Loreto Jaso Reyes, her father, Pedro (Pete) Jacobo Reyes, and her sister, Rosie Ferralli.She will be missed by her family, sisters Bettie and Susie Reyes, and her sister and brother in law Mary and Albert Garcia, and brother in law, Dino Ferralli, as well as her nieces and nephews, Angela Garcia, Albert Anthony Garcia, Christina and Greg Titler, Deanna and Michael Mahlstedt, Joanna and Bill Childers, and Gina and Steve Ullrich, and great nieces and nephew, Nicole and Noelle Titler; Connor, Gillian, and Madeline Mahlstedt; Grace and Rachel Childers; and Lauren Ullrich; cousins and extended family from the Reyes, Jaso, Jacobo, Leza, Salinas, Anguiano and families.A special thanks to her caregivers, Anita, Laura, Marta, Kelia, Lupe, Sandy and Cindy for your compassionate support and care.
