Obituary of Josephine Riccardi
Josephine Riccardi, 99, died January 18, 2022. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family and friends in Fort Worth, Texas.She was born March 19, 1922, in Braddock, PA to Alfonso and Teresa Riccardi. Her father owned a candy shop. She had five brothers and two sisters. She lived in Jackson Heights, NY and then moved to Plainview, NY in 1954 where she spent much of her life. She later moved to Fort Worth, TX.Jo entered the Navy on June 1, 1943 at just 21 years of age as a member of WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service). During her time with the Navy, she became a Chief Petty Officer and worked as the Chief Shopkeeper. After her four years in the service, she was recommended for the American Theatre Campaign Medal, Word War II Victory Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. She was granted an Honorable Discharge on June 24, 1947. Jo also worked as an accountant for Ray Contracting Company.She was a devout Catholic. She faithfully attended church every week for her entire life. She dedicated much of her time to her prayers and her faith. She lived her life as a loving, caring, servant of our Heavenly Father.Her interests included gardening, sewing, word searches, sudoku, and mind puzzles. She devoted much of her time and energy to taking care of her family.Ms. Riccardi is survived by her nieces, Regina Depp and Ann Prager; their spouses, and her nephews Thomas and Michael Milana; their spouses, and numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
