Obituary of Laura Annette Wiley Lowry

Laura Annette Wiley Lowry left her family and friends on Sunday, July 11, 2021.Annette was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on March 6, 1939. She attended Amon Carter Riverside High School where she graduated Valedictorian of her Class of 1957. Her academic achievements continued with an undergraduate scholarship to Texas Christian University, a Fulbright Scholarship award to study abroad in France, and a Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin.After completing her studies, Annette followed her passion for teaching. Her career began at R. L. Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Texas teaching both French and English. Annette’s distinguished career in education ended upon retirement in the mid 1990’s as the head of the Fort Worth ISD Foreign Language department. She was fluent in four languages – English, French, Spanish and German.Annette was an avid reader, a devoted wife, sister and stepmother, and never stopped learning or passed up a good crossword puzzle. Her intellect and kindness were treasured by her family and friends.Annette was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, James Buchanan Lowry; her father, Dick Bryan Wiley; her mother Lela Mae Bennett Wiley; and her brother, Donald Wiley.She is survived by her sister, Bettye Neely; her brother, Gene Wiley; her niece, Laurie Tur; her nephew, Bryan Neely; her nephew, David Wiley; her nephew, Tim Morgan; her niece, Cindy Miles; her nephew, George Vardakis; her niece, Jan Vardakis, her nephew, Howard Schwope; her niece, Kara Schwope; her stepdaughter, Lynn DeHart; and her stepson, Matt Holder.
