Obituary of James Marvin Coburn
James Marvin Coburn died peacefully with his wife by his side on Thursday, March 1, 2018.James Marvin Coburn was born on July 31, 1940 in Perryton, Texas to Marvin Lafayette and Eloise Ruth Bull Coburn. He was a 1958 graduate of Carter Riverside and earned a B.S. in Accounting and Business Administration at UTA, where he was a Charter Member of Delta Sigma Pi, the professional business fraternity. Jim met Georgia Kelly at the end of their senior year at a high school dance and gave her his senior ring the next day. They were married on October 14, 1961 at St. Patrick Co-Cathedral while he was serving in the U.S.N.Jim had a strong career in Public Accounting and served as Controller in numerous companies including Steck Warlick, Gifford Hill, Bosco, Auto Convoy, Republic Gypsum, The Gammon Group and Darr/Holt CAT, all in the Dallas area. He was a respected manager and mentor among his colleagues.Jim was also a sports enthusiast and a beloved little league coach form many years coaching baseball, basketball, football and soccer in Irving.Survivors: He is survived by his best friend and wife of 56 years, Georgia; children, Danny Coburn and Amy Coburn; granddaughter, Kelsey Coburn Aviles; and brother, William Carroll Coburn.
