Eugenia “Genie” Furber, passed away October 30th at her home with family members present.She was born in 1939, in Austin, Texas to Harold and Vivian Blundell, as the eldest of four siblings.Genie earned both bachelors and master’s degrees in Experimental Psychology from University of Texas at Dallas, as well as managing her husband’s medical practice. She was an executive administrator for various medical schools, hospitals, and service organizations.In 1975, Genie and Edward Furber were married in Dallas, Texas and have resided in Fort Worth since 1979.Genie and Ed were supporters of museums, both locally and internationally. As husband and wife, they were active members of the Fort Worth Ballet, Opera, and Symphony. Both relished their participation in the Houston and Fort Worth Great Books Reader-Discussion Groups.Her services as President of the Friendship Force International cultural exchange organization, led to multiple travels to Germany, Latvia, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Belgium, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, and Canada. Genie also loved cooking, sewing, interior decorating, and gardening.Genie was preceded in death by her parents and younger sister, Linda Blundell.She is survived by her husband Edward Furber, MD; two sons, Robert “Jerry” Lewis and Harold “Gene” Lewis; sister, Sue; brother, Harold; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
