Obituary of Betty Jo Devaney Hillaker

Betty Jo (née Devaney) Hillaker, born March 20, 1924, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2017.A life-long resident of Fort Worth, Betty graduated from Our Lady of Victory College and Academy in 1941, attended North Texas Agricultural College, and took flying lessons at Meacham Field. She was working at Fort Worth Army Air Base when she met her future husband, Harry James Hillaker, an aeronautical engineer, at nearby Consolidated Aircraft. They were married October 2, 1943 until his death in 2009.Betty was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Frances Devaney; her siblings, Carolyn Grace, John, Thomas, Paul and Anne Devaney; and by her daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Dillon McDaniel.She is survived by brothers, Richard Devaney of Midwest City, OK, Michael Devanney, and Stephen (Lynn) Devaney of Fort Worth; daughters, Victoria (Howard) Harrell of Conroe, TX, Deborah (Phil) Currier of Del Mar, CA, and Melissa (Jack) Gillespie of Fort Worth; sons, Eric (Susan) Hillaker of Fort Worth, and Harry (Michele) Hillaker of Des Moines, IA; and by her “fifth daughter” Beth (née Bentson) Clifford of Albuquerque, NM; 27 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren; and two very dear life-long friends from OLV, Margaret (née Krippel) Leito of Fort Worth and Patricia (née Boyle) Young of Solana Beach, CA.
