Obituary of Richard Douglas Clark
Richard (Rick) Douglas Clark, servant of Jesus Christ, husband of Christie Devers Clark, entered Paradise on July 7th, 2022, in Glen Rose, TX due to an aortic aneurysm.
He was born April 17, 1950, in Sylva, NC to Clenon and Berniece Clark. His brother Larry Clark (wife Debbie) and a sister, Elaine Meadows (husband Tom) are left to remember him along with their children and many friends and family members.
Rick attended Boone High School in Orlando, FL, graduating in 1968 with a track scholarship to Seminole Jr. College. He also ran for Troy State University, earning his degree in business in 1972. His passion for running lasted throughout his life.
His career in Food Service was a joy to him; employed by White Swan, Watson Foods, and Sysco. In fact, it is what
brought Chef Christie to Rick as they met at a food show in Lubbock. While living/working in Lubbock, Rick was already enjoying his time as a volunteer at Lubbock State School.
After moving to Glen Rose, the Clark's became members of the Methodist Church where Rick sang in the choir,
volunteered for many mission trips, worked on numerous committees and assisted with Lord's Acre. Retiring from the business world was the beginning of his life's service. He took on even more at church and was able to add Lion's Club, plus Barnard's Mill to his volunteer resume. Rick truly loved serving: all who knew him know he was a hard worker and humbly loved being at the center of all the many activities; he was known to take the jobs others would passed over.
A faithful member of the "A-Team", Rick was the first of the friends to make a final exit. The 5 couples were always ready to help where needed and shared in the deep friendship.
Rick was loved by his acquired children, Blaine Coffelt (wife Michelle) and their children Wendell & Sydnie, Shawnea Costilla and her children Esai (wife Adrianna), Amor (husband Josh), Alexandria, Daesha and 8 great-grandchildren.
Glen Rose loved Rick and he loved Glen Rose. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts/donations be made to The Glen Rose Lion's Club or Glen Rose Methodist Church.
Christie would like to extend her thanks those who worked with Rick at the ER Glen Rose Medical Center-Hospital the evening of July 6th/7th.
A service to remember and celebrate Rick will be held July 23rd at 11:00 at the Performing Arts Center, Glen Rose High School. Lunch to follow at the Glen Rose Methodist Church.
Lastly, we will gather at Barnard's Mill to visit and celebrate "Rick Style" 5:00-7:00 pm.
