Obituary of Merle Gene Allen

Merle Gene Allen, 93, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022. 

Merle grew up the youngest of six children in rural Oklahoma.  He joined the Air Force in 1948 and served six years as an aircraft mechanic.  He graduated from Parks College in St. Louis with a BS in Aeronautical Engineering and later obtained a Masters in Engineering from the University of Washington.  While attending Parks, Merle met his wife, Carolyn, and they were married in 1957.  He worked as an engineer and structural dynamics expert for 32 years at General Dynamics in Fort Worth, retiring in 1994.  In retirement, he enjoyed family, hunting, telling and retelling stories, and watching the financial markets and old western movies.  

Merle is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carolyn; four children, daughter, Anne, sons, Paul and wife, Deborah, Dan and wife, Lorrie, and Tom and wife, Cristi; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. 

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, October 22 at a private residence.  Please contact a family member for additional information.

Merle will be buried in a private ceremony at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
