Obituary of Dorothy Faye Steele

Dorothy Faye Moody Steele, 96, passed away Monday February 6, 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Visitation: 10:00 a.m. Monday February 13, 2023 at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home

Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Monday February 13, 2023 at Thompson's Harveson & Cole funeral Home, 4350 River Oaks Blvd, Fort Worth, Texas.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials my be made to "The Livewires" or the building fund of Birchman Avenue Baptist Church. 9100 North Normandale, Fort Worth, Texas 76116.  

Dorothy Faye Moody Steele was born November 23,1926 in Morgan Mill, Texas to Allie Byrn and Millie Davis Moody.

Dorothy started school in a two-room school house in Acre, Texas and later moved with her family to Bluff Dale, Texas.  She accepted Christ when she was twelve years old; had to wait until warm weather to be baptised in the creek. 

After graduation from the seventh grade, Dorothy rode the school bus to Stephenville High School and graduated in 1943.  She attended Brantley Draughn Business College, Tarrant County Junior College and Fort Benjamin Harrison Finance School.  She worked for the Western Olds Company and Montgomery Wards.  Her her career in Civil Service began with the Weather Bureau and she retired from The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers as a Budget Analyst after 34 1/2 years of government service. 

In May 1950, Dorothy married Horace S. Steele.  They had two children and were blessed with 36 1/2 happy years together before Horace went to be with the Lord.  Dorothy was a member of Birchman Baptist Church.  Dorothy loved her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Horace; four brothers; Don Curtis, James Thomas (J.T.), Rue Weldon and Robert Glenn Moody. 

Her survivors include her children, Mike Steele and wife, Cathy, of Azle, Glenda Graves and husband, Tom, of Sugar Land, Texas; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and brother, Allen Byrn Moody and wife, Betty, of Bedford.
