Obituary of Jimmie Carolyn Johnson
Jimmie Carolyn Johnson was born in Dallas, Texas to Albert Reid Bass and Ruby Clark. She earned her wings on July 31, 2023, at the age of 97, surrounded by friends and family.
Raised by Christian parents, she attended East Grand Baptist Church in Dallas from the age of four until she met and married Donald E. Johnson, a preacher from Cleburne, Texas, while attending Baylor University in Waco. She quit school so her husband could finish school. Jimmie graduated after her children left home. Being a preacher’s wife, she served in churches with him in Keller, Cleburne, Corpus Christi, Sherman and Fort Worth.
She was a devout Christian who lived and showed her faith every day and was loved by everyone who came into contact with her whether it was family, friends or strangers. She was a member of Gambrell Street Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Edward Johnson; her son Robert Lee Johnson Sr; her grandchildren, Lynn Johnson and Charles Donald Johnson; and granddaughters in law, Tracy Johnson and Dani Gumfory.
Jimmie is survived by her children, Joyce Ann French and her husband, Richard, of Krum, Texas; James Edward Johnson of Fort Worth; and bonus son, Charlie Ashe and Nelda, of Center, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 3 bonus children, 24 great grandchildren, 3 bonus great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren.
Visitation: 3:00-5:00p.m., Sunday August 6, 2023 at Thompson’s Harveson & Cole, 4350 River Oaks Blvd, Fort Worth, Texas 76114.
Funeral Service: 10:00a.m. Monday August 7, 2023 at Gambrell Street Baptist Church,1616 West Gambrell Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76115.
Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Cleburne, Texas following the funeral service.
