Obituary of Roy Eugene Newman

Roy Eugene Newman, 85, passed away on September 8, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, September 16, Fielder Church, 2011 S Fielder Rd, Arlington, The family will receive friends following the service.

Interment: 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, Moore Memorial Gardens. 

Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials may be given to Samaritans Purse, 235 N E Loop 820, Hurst, TX 76053.

Roy was born on May 25, 1938 in Baird, TX to Octavia and Alfred Newman. He grew up in Breckenridge and was a cheerleader for the Breckenridge Buckaroos. Roy attended TCU before joining the United States Marine Corp.  He was awarded the Sharp Shooter and Expert Rifleman awards and attained the rank of Lance Corporal. After his service Roy attended Arlington State University where he was a member of the Delta Sigma Pi fraternity. 

Roy met his wife Camilla on a blind date in Fort Worth and they married on September 7, 1963. They celebrated their 60th anniversary the day before his death. Together Roy and Camilla had three daughters and six grandchildren who were the light of his life.  Roy encouraged his grandchildren to love God and pray often. 

Roy owned Roy Newman and Associates and N & W Sales for over 40 years. He was an avid University of Oklahoma supporter where all three of his daughters graduated as well as four of his grandchildren. Roy loved to play golf, entertain his family and friends and was always the life of the party. He never met a stranger and was loyal and gave generously. He was a proud Conservative American and Texan always displayed the American flag in his yard. 

Survivors: Wife of 60 years, Camilla Newman; daughters, Kimberly Bergen and husband Myron, Krista Manning and husband Ralph, and Allison Parsons and husband, Chad; grandchildren, Zachary Bergen and wife Sarah, Zane Bergen, Abby Fletcher and husband Kolton, Audrey Ford and husband Jess, and twins, Mary Katherine and Millison Manning; and a host of extended family and friends.
