Bill was born January 19, 1930, in Sardis, Texas, near Waxahachie, son of the late Eugene Walker Martin and Anna Louise Hobbs Martin. He joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 18 and served in the US and abroad for twenty years.  In 1952 he married Helen Louise Love of Fort Worth and had three children.  After retiring from military service in 1968 he worked at LTV, American Airlines and General Dynamics until his final retirement. Bill was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church for 72 years and a dedicated volunteer at the First Street Methodist Mission.   He was an avid runner with many 10K races under his belt and loved being of service.   He was never too tired for a catch after work with his boys, to attend his daughter’s dance recitals or play with his grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, mother, father, and siblings, Wanda Nell Martin Hood, Warren Neal Martin and Howard “Butch” Martin.

He is survived by his children, Donna Louise Martin, William Donald Martin, Jr. and Michael Dennis Martin; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and siblings, Carolyn Martin Thornton and Jerry Mack Martin and extended family members.

Our family thanks the extraordinary staff of the Trinity Terrace Skilled Nursing Unit for their love, compassion, and care.
