Obituary of Barbara Maria Hunnicutt Martinez

Barbara Maria Hunnicutt Martinez, 62, passed away February 2, 2024.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, 4350 River Oaks Blvd.

Graveside Service with Military Honors: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway.

Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to the American SPCA.

Barbara was born May 31, 1961 in Houston, Texas, the daughter of William S. Hunnicutt Sr. and Nancy Ann Hunter Hunnicutt. She was a devoted mother to her only child, Christiana Martinez. Barbara was also a big animal lover & had two pitbulls, Mia & Colt. Barbara lived all over the world & loved to travel. She also served in the US Army as a helicopter weapons specialist. She currently worked as the restaurant manager at Napolis Italian Kitchen which she was very passionate about. She was actively involved with the Grapevine & Roanoke VFW posts. Barbara spent many years with her long-term partner, Lance. They enjoyed riding around, spending time with friends & attending shows. Barbara loved her family & greatly enjoyed annual trips to the beach with dear friends. She was a fun-loving, free-spirited & incredibly caring person. Above all, Barbara was a devoted Christian. Her faith in God was number one in her life & she devoted much time to reading the Word of God. 

Survivors: Daughter, Christiana Martinez; brothers, William S. Hunnicutt Jr, John T. Hunnicutt, Scott T. Hunnicutt and James E. Everett.; long-time partner, Lance Cabados; aunt, Judy Jones; uncles, John and Thomas Hunnicutt of Houston; dear cousins, Judy Rosko, Susan Hall, Stephanie Jenkins and Antoinette Everett; her fur babies, Colt and Mia; dear friends, Brett and Lisa Kinzel; and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.
