Dan was such a presence. On my most recent visit to see Sarah, I knew Dan was there at the house. But as I was standing in the kitchen by myself as Sarah was doing something else in another room, he bursts through his office door, and in that big voice he joyfully bursts out my name. It was both startling and so welcoming. He was always happy to see me. He gave really big hugs. One of the few of my friend’s husbands who would sit and talk with us as we would catch up. Always with amazing questions. His questions were like gifts. The kind that let you know he truly was listening and wanted to understand where you were coming from and what your experience was like. He was so curious about everything. And the way he let things go. Any tough situation, he always had a simple solution and an attitude that there was no reason to make it a big deal. Just let it go. “It’ll all work out for the best!” I feel incredibly honored to have gotten to spend time with Dan.
