Obituary of Elizabeth Herring

Elizabeth Blanco Herring, age 83, of Roswell, NM, passed away in Fort Worth, Texas on June 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family following a lengthy illness. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Deacon Howard Herring, children Stephanie Stewart Burke (Dan), John Patrick Herring (Ashley), Ann Herring White (Jay), Michelle Herring Steakley (Zollie) and Janet Herring Suess, 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Elizabeth is also survived by sisters Maria de los Angeles Blanco Munoz, Carmen Maria Blanco Munoz, Violeta Blanco Munoz and brother Rodolfo Blanco Munoz of Costa Rica and Martha (Tina) Krebs (Ebby) of Frisco, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents Erlinda and Gilberto Blanco, and brothers Walter, Gerardo and Ricardo Blanco Munoz.

Born in San Isidro, Costa Rica, Elizabeth moved to California as a young woman before eventually settling in Roswell, NM, where she spent most of her life. She married Howard on September 2, 1978, and together they built a life centered around faith, family and hard work.  Elizabeth achieved great success as a Tupperware regional sales manager and thoroughly enjoyed meeting people and connecting them to products that could assist them.  She also worked alongside Howard at Super Meat Mart for many years and served as the President of the New Mexico Military Institute Parents’ Club.

Elizabeth, known for her boundless energy and warm heart, touched the lives of everyone she met. She had a remarkable gift for making conversation and always had a kind word for anyone in her presence. Her true passion was gardening, and she possessed an incredible talent for nurturing plants into beautiful blooms.

Elizabeth also cherished her travels, particularly her visits to Costa Rica, where she spent precious moments with her family. Alongside her beloved Howard, she journeyed across the globe continually awestruck by the splendor of God’s creation in every place they explored.

Elizabeth’s memory and her smile will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her, as she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and a profound appreciation for the beauty of nature and the world around her.

Elizabeth was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith, finding inspiration and strength in her beliefs. She was a steadfast supporter of her husband Howard during his deaconate formation, which in turn motivated her to seek out new ways to serve and uplift others. Elizabeth had a special fondness for the Poor Clare nuns and assisted them in countless ways throughout her life.
